I Spent My Early Stones on Death Wave

Death Wave quantity and cooldown are worth the stones. Damage is not. I spent early stones on the damage line, and I would not touch Death Wave Plus early either.

2026-09-23

I spent a pile of early stones on Death Wave damage. Quantity was fine. Cooldown was fine. Damage was the waste.

Death Wave is an economy weapon. It is not there to kill things. The wave tags enemies so the coin and cell bonuses can land. Another wave helps. A shorter cooldown helps, because the wave comes back and tags the run again. A bigger damage multiplier does not. The enemies I cared about were not dying to Death Wave. Raising its attack just makes a number go up, and the run pays you the same.

That is an easy mistake when the first levels are cheap. Damage starts at x2. Level 1 is 5 stones for x3. It looks like a bargain, so you keep going. The line does not stay cheap. Maxing Death Wave damage is 17,591 stones across 30 levels, from x2 out to x9,119. Quantity, the extra wave, is 2,950 stones. Cooldown, down from 300s to 50s, is 8,850. Damage costs more than those two put together, and it is the line that does not pay you back.

Death Wave damage levels, with the stone cost, absolute change, percent change, and gain per stone for the damage multiplier.

Buy the wave, not the multiplier

If Death Wave is the weapon you are building, spend on quantity and cooldown. Leave damage alone until you actually have a reason, and I still have not found one.

Quantity gives you another wave. Cooldown puts that wave back on the field sooner. Both of those change how often the economy effect hits. Damage changes how hard a wave hits, on a weapon you did not bring for the hit.

Read the next row before you click. On the damage page every level is its own row: the stones for that step, the absolute jump, the percent, and what one stone buys. The multiplier keeps climbing. The stones climb faster. None of that turns Death Wave into a damage weapon.

Do not buy Death Wave Plus early

Death Wave Plus is the other place early stones go to die. I would not put stones into it while the rest of the tower is still hungry.

Greeny has been first on the leaderboard for the past year. He left Death Wave Plus alone until very late. If the player sitting in first is not buying it, I am not buying it with the stones I still need for weapons that actually move the run.

Base quantity and cooldown are a different conversation from Plus. One is the economy line. The other is a late upgrade that can wait. The checkpoints for Plus are on the Ultimate Weapon+ page, and I look at them so I know what I am skipping.

The damage ladder is here when you want to see the bill: Death Wave damage. Every other line is on the Ultimate Weapon page, one upgrade at a time.
